Bob has lived in Salem for the last twenty years with his wife Kathy and their two sons, with both sons currently in Salem High. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UMass-Lowell in 1986 and has owned his own small business, T.F. McCarthy Sons LLC General Contractors, for over two decades.
Even before his election to the City Council six years ago, Bob has volunteered to make Salem as vibrant a community as it can be. He chaired the city’s Open Space and Recreation Committee, organized volunteers to repair the Columbus Avenue seawall, and volunteered at Saltonstall cleanup days, the reconstruction of the Juniper playground, and multiple Salem Clean Sweeps.
Bob has coached Salem Little League and Cartoon League Basketball and served on the Saltonstall School PTO. He has also been president of the Juniper Community Club, the co-president of the Salem Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Sail Salem board.
